Dr. Philip M. Tornatore
Doctor of Dental Surgery
I was born February 1960 in Maspeth, Queens, first of two sons of Lucy and Felix Tornatore, and raised in Whitestone, Queens, just outside the shadow of Shea Stadium. I am a devote Met and Jet fan. During my formative years, I developed a love for science and math, which ultimately led me to a career in the healthcare field.
My education began at Saint Francis Preparatory High School, where I graduated as a member of the National Honor Society in 1978. I received my bachelor's degree from New York University. My studies included a rigorous Pre Dental curriculum and a joint major in Mathematics and Computer Science, with minor studies in Philosophy. I served as president, treasurer and vice-president of the Theta Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Delta national Fraternity.
My dental degree was obtained from New York University, College of Dentistry, in June 1986. Upon graduation, I was recognized in the top ten percent in my class, and received a citation for comprehensive care student assistant faculty coordinator, received the Bernard E. Rudner Memorial Comprehensive Care Award, and was an active member of the Beta chapter of the national professional Fraternity Xi Psi Phi. I was inducted into the OKU (Omicron Kappa Upsilon) National Academic Fraternity.
My formal education continued with a general practice residency program at Staten Island Hospital, and I entered private practice in June 1987 as associate in Hicksville, Long Island for one of my New York University instructors, Stanley N. Turetzky, DDS. Being dedicated to continuing education and bettering myself as a dentist, I joined the Academy of General Dentistry, and after extensive courses and qualifying exam, I was inducted as a fellow in June 1995. I am currently in pursuit of my mastership. I have been a sole practitioner since July 1992, am a certified Invisalign provider and have been certified in the placement of Lumineers and the delivery of cosmetic dermal fillers.
